  • A committee formed to seek alternative airport near Kathmandu

    Kathmandu,May 2:The government has formed a 6-member committee to choose suitable place for the construction of an alternative airport near Kathmandu Valley.

    Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister  Ravindra Adhikari has formed a 6-member committee under the coordination of Engineer Kamal Kumar KC from the ministerial decision.

    Other members are Dhruvadas Bhochhiibhoya, director of the Nepal Civil Aviation Authority and Baburam Poudel, Deputy Directorate Suburban Upadhyay and Sitaram Bhandari and Nal Vikram Thapa in the member secretary of the Authority.

    Before the committee formation On Tuesday, Minister Ravindra Adhikari visited Nagidada of Kavre Banepa Municipality, Chisapani and Devisthan of Dhulakhail Municipality.

    Ministry spokesperson Ghanashyam Upadhyay has given the information that the committee is responsible for studying these 3 places or other suitable places and giving suggestions within 15 days.

    The government was looking for options to increase international air flights at Tribhuvan Airport.

    Due to the rising air flow in the airports, the problem of flying and landing is increasing rapidly.

    Therefore, the government is preparing to conduct internal airports near Kathmandu Valley and conduct internal flights from same airport.
