Climber dies while summiting Makalu without supplemental oxygen

Kathmandu, May 8 A Nepali mountaineering management company has informed that a Peruvian climber died on Mount Makalu while attempting the summit. Richard Hidalgo died at Camp 2 (6500 m) of Mt Makalu (8,481 m), the fifth highest mountain of the world, according to Seven Summit Treks Pvt Ltd. Hidalgo was in his bid to climb the summit without supplemental oxygen, and less support of Sherpa people. The company says he was scheduled to reach the top this morning.

4 Tons Trash from Mt. Everest

Kathmandu,May 6 : In a new clean-up drive on Mount Everest, the climbing team has cleared around 3 tons of trash from Mount Everest. The trash collected by a 14-member government team included cans, bottles, plastic and discarded climbing gear.

Rope fixing team on action

Kathmandu,May 01: A team of Sherpas (rope fixing team) reached blew the Lhotse camp 4 (7600m), just before the Geneva spur yesterday. Tomorrow on 2nd May the team will attempt to continue rope fixing to the South Col at Camp 4. At that time other teams may climb the newly opened route to deposit supplies at camp 4 in preparation for their upcoming summit bids.
