Contractors’ Association Bhaktapur denounces amendment

Bhaktapur, April 4: The Contractors’ Association, Bhaktapur today submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister through the Chief District Officer, demanding a correction to the fifth amendment on the Pubic Procurement Regulation- 2007.

A team led by Association Chair Niranjan Bajgai met with Bhaktapur’s CDO Drona Pokhrel and handed a memorandum. Prior to this, speaking at a press meet organised at the Association office, Chair Bajgain claimed the fifth amendment made on March 9 bypassing the voices of the Federation of Contractors Associations of Nepal was not acceptable for them.

The revised provision in the regulation which allows the implementation of a construction project up to Rs 10 million by a community-level is against the interests of people involved in construction business, the Association claimed. The amended provision replaces the previous provision which had permitted the implementation of a construction project up to Rs 6 million through a community-level. RSS
