Dahal seeks policy reforms to block educated youth from going abroad

Kathmandu, April 3

Ruling Nepal Communist Party chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said the government should update its educational policies so that it can stop educated youth group from going abroad for job or further study.

The former prime minister says reformed policies should ensure quality education and focus on creating employment opportunities in the country itself.

Addressing a meeting of the National Development Council on Wednesday, “The tendency of seeking jobs abroad is increasing than the desire to work in the country. The presence of productive workforce is decreasing.”

“If you look at the issue critically, the root cause is education,” he added, “While thinking about the plan for next 25 years, education should be placed on the top.”

Dahal was of the view that the education system from school to university levels should be reformed.

He recommended that the system promote commercialisation, modernisation and industrialisation of agriculture.
