  • Govt must provide higher and technical education to poor children: Leader Nepal

    Kathmandu, Nov 30 : Nepal Communist Party (CPN) leader and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal said the State must provide incentives to the children from poor and helpless community for their higher and technical education. During a programme organized by the Light House Foundation of Nepal in the capital city on Wednesday, former Prime Minister Nepal reminded that the government began the social security programme taking into account the lower class and helpless people and community.

    The country becomes prosperous when the fundamental rights guaranteed by the constitution are effectively implemented, he said, underscoring that every citizen however needs to realize his/her duty while claiming for rights. On the occasion, Secretary at the National Women’s Commission, Anil Kumar Thakur, lauded the role the Foundation played for the education of orphans and children from the minority community.

    Cooperation from various sides could be extended to such pious deed, he added. Noted cine actor Rajesh Hamal also praised the activities carried out by the Foundation, saying that the Foundation has created a platform for the children facing tremendous social and economic challenges to show their talent. Former chairman of the Central Children Welfare Committee, Dilliram Giri, European Union representative, Shiva Bhandari, founding chairman of the Foundation, Raju Sundas, and others said the State needs to augment investment on children’s education. The Foundation has been providing free education and hostel facility to more than 500 children belonging to the backward communities as Badi and Chepang, orphan and those who became helpless after the earthquake. Far West Province assembly member Uma Badi, Founder of the Amako Ghar Nepal, Dilshova Shrestha, and others were honoured at the programme.

    Foundation Chairman Bijay Lama hoped if the organization would get cooperation from various sides, it could expand its visibility and help more children facing social and financial challenges.(RSS)
