Govt to release 2nd Tranche of subsidy for 100 new tourism destinations

Kathmandu,Feb 13 : The Nepali Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) is all set to release 2nd tranche of NPR 1 billion subsidy for 100 new tourism destinations.

The Ministry has issued a notice on February 10, 2020, ordering the local units to submit an application for the release of second tranche by March 13, 2020.

The Ministry has decided to disburse a total of NPR 500 million to the concerned local units who submit the application within the given timeframe.

Earlier, the concerned local units have already received NPR 500 million of the allotted NPR 1 billion grant to build necessary infrastructure.

Before receiving the second tranche, the local units are supposed to submit the progress reports related to the first installment.

The Ministry will evaluate the reports and release the second installment only if it finds the progress satisfactory.

The Ministry has decided to provide an amount ranging from NPR 5 million to NPR 8 million to each destination.

Earlier, the Nepali Government has decided to develop 100 new tourist destinations across all provinces to support the ‘Visit Nepal Year 2020’ campaign.

The tourist destinations are as follows:

  • Province 1 – 17
  • Province 2 – 9
  • Bagmati Province – 18
  • Gandaki Province – 18
  • Province 5 – 16
  • Karnali Province – 11
  • Sudurpashchim Province – 11

The development of 100 new tourism destinations is expected to attract foreign visitors as well as domestic visitors during the ‘Visit Nepal 2020’ campaign.
