Man on the Everest, more than anyone in the planet

Kathmandu,April 1:Since the first ascent of Mt. Everest by Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay on 29 May 1953 via S-Col SE Ridge approximately 5231 ascents are counted from Nepal side till spring 2017 and “Sherpa” from the very first to now witnessed almost all attempts on the world’s highest peak. Mt. Everest also known as Sagarmatha and Chomolungma is situated at an altitude of 8,8848m (29,029 ft.) in the MahalungurHimal Range between Nepal and China Border with the coordinates of 27°59′17″N 86°55′31″E.

The highest peak of the world, Mt. Everest has been climbed multiple times by both Sherpas and foreigner, but remarkably only 3 individuals (all Sherpa) are able to script the history on the Everest for 21 equal ascents. Apa Sherpa aka ‘Super Sherpa’ from Thame, PhurbaTashi from Khumjung and Kami Rita from Thame, all 3 have scaled the highest peak more than anyone in the planet. Apa Sherpa climbed Mt. Everest for 21 times between 10 May 1990 – 11 May 2011, PhurbaTashi Sherpa between 27 May 1999 – 10 May 2013 and Kami Rita Sherpa between 13 May 1994 – 27 May 2017.

The 48 year old Kami Rita from inhabitant of Thame, Solukhumbureached the highest point of the 13 May 1994 as his first ascent of Everest and continued his high altitude journey by climbing Annapurna IV in 1996, Cho Oyu 8188m for 8 times from 2001 to 2011, LhoTse 8516m in 2011,Mt. Born on 19 Jan 1970, Kami Rita Sherpa who made 32 successful summits over 8000m peak i.e. Everest 21 times, Cho Oyu 8 times, Lhotse once, K2 once and Manaslu once, is now looking to be the first man to scaled the world’s highest peak for 22 times. If he succeeds then he alone will take the title of “Most Successful Ascent of Mt. Everest” and will also equalize his 8000ers ascents to PhurbaTashiSherpa who hold the record of “Most climb over 8000m peak by an individual” with 33 ascents starting from Cho Oyu in 1998 to Manaslu in 2017. “If everything goes according to my schedule, on 29 May I will push for the summit” Kami Rita said. 29 May also known as Everest Day is the day, when Edmund and Tenzing Norgay made the first successful ascent of Mt. Everest. “My father inspired me a lot during my whole mountaineering career. I have support from my family so I will not quit climbing, I have a dream to climb Everest up to 25 times” he added. Both Apa Sherpa in 2012 and PhurbaTashi in 2016 announced their retirement from the Everest.

On 1stApril he will fly to Lukla and on 15th April along with his team he will start fixing route to the summit of Everest via S-Col SE Ridge which will make it easier for other members to climb. From this climbing season Kami Rita will work as a senior climbing guide at Seven Summit Treks and 14 Peak Expedition P. Ltd, sister companies. “We are pleased to announce that Kami Kami Rita as Goodwill ambassador of our company, as a part he will lead our expeditions in the mountains at least for couple of years.” Said TashiLakpa Sherpa, who is the Chairman at 14 Peak Expedition.
