Minister urges China to provide more quota for Nepali students

Kathmandu, January 31

Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Chakrapani Khanal has urged the Government of the People’s Republic of China to increase the quota for Nepali agriculture students in Chinese universities.

The minister, who met Chinese Ambassador Hou Yanqi earlier in the day, said that more Nepali students could benefit from opportunities in China in the days to come.

Minister Khanal expressed confidence that increasing the number of Nepali students would help slash the number of youngsters going abroad for work. The Minister also urged China to help train Nepali farmers in new technology.

In reply, Ambassador Hou said that China was ready to sign an agreement on this matter as proposed by Nepal by holding further discussions. Stating that Nepal and China have had cordial relations for a long time, she pledged to take this relationship to a new height during her term.
