  • NMA hailed the verdict of Supreme Court

Kathmandu, Dec 02: The recent verdict of Supreme Court that validated the executive committee elected by the general assembly on August 5, 2017 was hailed by the The Mountaineering Association of Nepal (NMA).

The verdict was issued on November 15 by a division bench of justices comprising of Chief Justice Om Prakash Mishra and Justice Kedar Prasad Chalise which allowed executive committee to lead country’s only alpine body for three years. Jimba Jangbu Sherpa who lost the election against Santa Bir Lama-led panel had moved the apex court demanding the annulment of the election results as the petitioner claimed that Lama had won the election with proxy votes.

“Lama’s victory is legal as there was no rigging in the NMA election as claimed by the petitioner,” the verdict read. NMA welcomed the SC verdict, Secretary Tika Ram Gurung said.tourismmail
