  • Parliamentary hearing process for new Chief Justice begins

    Kathmandu, July 12: The Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee on Thursday has begun the procedure to conduct a hearing for the appointment of new Chief Justice.

    The Constitutional Council has already recommended Acting Chief Justice Deepak Raj Joshee for the position.

    A meeting of the Committee today decided to issue a public notice seeking complaints against him, according to the Committee member Yogesh Bhattarai.

    The Committee will conduct the hearing with Joshee after studying the complaints.

    Meanwhile, the meeting, second after its formation, approved the working procedure prepared by its sub-committee, considering suggestions extended by other members, on Thursday.

    A three-member committee was formed on Tuesday to finalise the working procedure.

    Bhattarai informed that that the two-thirds majority of the Committee can now scrap the recommended names for constitutional and diplomatic appointments.

    Experts of the related field will also made involved in the hearing to make the process effective.
