US Bangla Airlines crash lands in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, March 12

A US Bangla Airlines plane has crash-landed in Kathmandu.

According to witnesses at the scene, the pilot seemed to have lost control of the plane as it landed at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. Seventy-one people, including four crew members, were on board the plane.

The plane is learnt to have barged into an open field adjacent to the runway. The plane (S2-AGU) had taken off from Dhaka and landed at TIA at 2:20 pm. It was reported to be on fire. Authorities say the fire has now been extinguished and rescue work is on.

The Tribhuvan international airport has been closed following the incident.
